PSG defender Thomas Meunier speaks highly of Celtic new boy Odsonne Edouard.
Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier has spoken highly of Celtic’s new boy Odsonne Edouard, ahead of their Champions League clash.
Celtic have signed Edouard on loan from PSG, and Meunier believes that the move can take the 19-year-old to the very top.
The young striker made an instant impact when he scored a debut goal at Hamilton for the Hoops, and the Belgian defender believes that Edouard will be a threat for the French giants.
He said that Edouard is a “good young player” who is difficult to be stopped. He added that if the player can keep his place in the Celtic team, he could become a really good striker.
Meunier has also hailed Celtic as a “mythical team”, and said that he always checks their results. The Belgian said that they have a good manager at helm, and that they are capable of beating big teams.
“We know Odsonne very well – he’s difficult to stop. He’s a really good young player. If he can keep his place in the Celtic team he will learn the game and become a really good striker,” said Meunier, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“I also know a bit about Celtic because my friend Dedryck Boyata is at Celtic. They are the kind of team that everyone knows about – they are like Manchester United, Bayern Munich. They are a mythical team.
“I always check their results. We know they have a good manager and side. I know they are really strong at home and have surprised big teams there before, for example, when they beat Barcelona a few years ago. So we know we will have to be focused.”
Celtic are pitted in a strong Champions League group alongside PSG and Bayern Munich, and as such, their chances of progressing through from the group stages are very slim.
However, the Bhoys are more than capable of beating big teams at home, and that is what Celtic should aim for when they face PSG in the midweek.
