Brentford manager Thomas Frank admits he is ‘flattered’ to have reportedly caught the eye of Tottenham Hotspur as the Premier League giants look to replace Antonio Conte.

Is there a more flexible, versatile tactician around?

Frank’s shape-shifting Brentford side appear to go transform from a fierce counter-attacking side one minute to one who can dominate possession the next, altering their armoury depending on the nature of the opposition. Jurgen Klopp even labelled Frank’s style of play ‘incredible‘.

The Dane’s expert tactical nous is a major reason why Brentford are not only rapidly establishing themselves as part of the Premier League furniture, but remain in contention for a European spot with only two months of the season remaining.

Brentford are only four places and seven points behind a far more expensively-assembled Tottenham Hotspur side.

And, when quizzed about the possibility of making the switch from West London to the North of the city, Frank admitted that – while he remains ‘insanely happy’ at Brentford – it can only be a good thing to have admirers at one of the division’s biggest clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur need to replace Antonio Conte

“I’m just a human being,” Frank tells Viaplay, via Bold. “So of course it’s nice and flattering. But I have to focus on Brentford. I’m insanely happy to be here. I say that constantly to my staff and my players.

“Managers are being fired everywhere, so it is an indication that it is not working. I value being in Brentford enormously.”

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy put Conte out of his misery during the recent international break; Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Roberto de Zerbi reportedly emerging as potential replacements.

Sky believe that Frank is another name on Spurs’ long-list.

But while Jamie O’Hara is a big fan of a man who once worked as an assistant to Dean Smith at Brentford, there remains one obvious candidate for the job.

“I think Thomas Frank is an absolutely fantastic manager. But I think what Tottenham need, right now, is a lift for the fans. And I think (Mauricio) Pochettino is that,” the former Spurs midfielder tells talkSPORT

“I think he is a brilliant manager, and I think he would do well. (But) does Thomas Frank give you a lift?”
