Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Werder Bremen’s Thomas Delaney.
Werder Bremen sporting director Frank Baumann has told Kicker that midfielder Thomas Delaney does want a move to England, amid speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Delaney, 26, came up through the ranks with Copenhagen having joined the club in his youth, becoming a hero with more than 240 league appearances for the club whilst winning four league titles.
The midfielder’s superb performances earned him a big move in January 2017, as his pre-agreed move to Werder Bremen went through – and he has continued to impress since his move to the Bundesliga.
Delaney has notched two goals and four assists in 28 league games this season, and his performances appear to have attracted interest ahead of the summer transfer window.
Bild recently reported that Tottenham are keen to sign Delaney this summer, with Bremen poised to demand around €15million (£13million) for the midfielder, after strong links to Everton too.
Now, Bremen’s sporting director Frank Baumann has told Kicker that Delaney does want a move to England, but it’s unclear just when he will get that switch.
Tottenham may now be hoping to take advantage of Delaney’s transfer wish, boosting their midfield options whilst also handing Delaney a reunion with Danish international teammate Christian Eriksen.
Spurs must be wary of Delaney impressing for Denmark at the World Cup this summer though, potentially raising his price, but with the midfielder keen to join Eriksen in the Premier League, Spurs could just hand him a direct reunion with their star playmaker.
