Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen praises Huddersfield Town.
Huddersfield Town were the surprise package of the 2016-17 Championship campaign. Not only did the Terriers finish in the top six, but they also won the playoff final and got promoted to the Premier League.
Many would have expected the West Yorkshire outfit to struggle against relegation to League One at the end of the 2016-17 season, but things turned out to be very different.
David Wagner’s side finished as high as fifth in the Championship table last season. Huddersfield got the better of Sheffield Wednesday on penalties in the two-legged semi-final playoff and then defeated Reading on penalties in the final at the Wembley Stadium in London.

Wagner was appointed the West Yorkshire club’s manager in November 2015 following the departure of Chris Powell.
Many would have been sceptical of the appointment given that the former Schalke striker had not worked in English football before, but the 45-year-old proved his detractors wrong.
Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen hopes for a similar success for himself during the 2017-18 campaign.
Christiansen was appointed in his role at Leeds earlier this summer following the departure of Garry Monk, who is now in charge of Championship rivals Middlesbrough.
“Yes, I’ve watched the final and the penalty shoot-out,” Christiansen told Bild, as translated by Jonmackenzie.com, when asked about Huddersfield’s success last season. “They did so well. For many people, David Wagner was unknown but they still celebrated his great success.
“In my case, I hope it will be the same: many people in England do not know me, but the people responsible for the club want me to introduce my own philosophy. I want to work hard, have clear ideas and want to achieve something with the club.”
