Vurnon Anita has joined Leeds United after leaving Newcastle United at the end of last season.

Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has told Sky Sports that he is pleased to have signed Vurnon Anita.

The West Yorkshire outfit have secured the services of Anita on a three-year contract in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old, who can operate as a full-back or as a defensive midfielder, has signed for Leeds on a free transfer following his release from Newcastle United at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Christiansen, who was appointed the Leeds manager earlier this summer following the departure of Garry Monk to Championship rivals Middlesbrough, has given his opinion on Anita.

“Well everyone knows him, he is a good player who can play in different positions and has the skill, the right attitude and experience,” Christiansen told Sky Sports about Anita.

“He was promoted with Newcastle and that also is something we want from him now, I am very, very pleased to have him.”

Anita could prove to be a brilliant signing for Leeds, who will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season.

The Dutchman knows English football inside out, and has played in the Championship with Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle.

The versatility of the 28-year-old is going to be important for Leeds. Given that Anita can feature as a full-back or as a defensive midfielder, he would give manager Christiansen options.
