Leeds United lost two defenders to injury during their 3-2 win over Bolton Wanderers.
Thomas Christiansen has told BBC Radio Leeds that he is concerned about Leeds’ lack of centre-back options following their narrow victory over Bolton on the opening day of the season.
The Whites kicked off their Championship campaign with a 3-2 win away at the Trotters, but once the dust settles on the positivity that has arisen following the win, the frustration surrounding the club’s defensive situation may perhaps take over.

Going into the game, Christiansen’s hand when it came to picking between his three natural centre-backs was somewhat forced with Pontus Jansson suspended, but the situation became more concerning as the game went on.
Left-back Gaetano Berardi came off during the first-half after dislocating his shoulder, as confirmed by the Guardian, while Matthew Pennington – one of the two available centre-backs before the game – rolled his ankle in the second-half.
And when asked about the lack of centre-back options, Christiansen highlighted how unfortunate the team had been.
“The lack or the luck? Because the luck, we didn’t have it with the two players from the defensive line [going off]. Of course, it’s a problem, we had this problem before the game. And now it’s worse,” he told BBC Radio Leeds when asked about the lack of numbers in that area of the pitch.

What may perhaps be encouraging for Whites fans is the fact that this situation has really been exposed while there is still plenty of time left in the transfer window to bolster the squad.
The club hierarchy can be in no doubt that it would be a massive gamble to leave the squad as it is, especially with Pennington and Berardi now awaiting news on how long they will be sidelined for.
