Leeds United striker Caleb Ekuban is set to miss out on facing Reading in Thomas Christiansen’s side’s next match.
Ekuban broke a bone in his foot back in August, and initially expectations were that he could be out for up to eight weeks.
The rapid forward underwent surgery to correct the issue, but even though Leeds have a fortnight off – due to the international break – it does not seem that the 22-year-old will be back available in time to take on Reading.
“No, no. It’s too soon,” Christiansen said, when asked if Ekuban could come back into his thinking.
With Ekuban out injured for the near future, Leeds are short of options up-front.
The Whites are likely to line up with Pierre-Michel Lasogga up-front against Reading, but they have very few options in reserve.
Jay-Roy Grot has struggled to impress since moving to Elland Road, and Kemar Roofe prefers playing in a deeper role to leading the line.
Christiansen may be tempted to make changes for Leeds’ match against Reading, as his side have struggled in recent weeks.
Leeds have lost their last three away matches, and they have now dropped down into fifth place in the Championship table, following yesterday’s 3-0 defeat Sheffield Wednesday.
