Matthew Pennington joined Leeds United on a season-long loan deal from Everton in the summer transfer window.
Pennington has joined Championship club Leeds on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Everton in the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old defender, who can operate as a centre-back or as a right-back, has featured heavily in pre-season for the Whites.
The former England Under-19 international played for Leeds in the pre-season friendly match against Oxford United at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
Pennington started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, and his performance impressed Leeds head coach Christiansen.

Christiansen has also explained why the Everton-owned youngster has settled in so quickly at the club, outlining that he was already in pre-season training with the Toffees before his loan move to the Whites.
“Matthew Pennington came from a pre-season with Everton so there was no problem there to come direct into the team,” Christiansen told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “He has shown that he can play.”

Leeds will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship next season after narrowly missing out on a playoff during the 2017-18 campaign.
Among the players that the Whites have signed so far in the summer transfer window are midfielder Mateusz Klich, goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald and attacker Samuel Saiz.
