Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has missed out on playing in the Championship since September.

Thomas Christiansen has told Leeds Live that Mateusz Klich still has time to turn around his Leeds United career.

Klich has grown frustrated with a lack of opportunities at Elland Road, and did not respond well to being dropped from Christiansen’s match day squad for Leeds’ last match against Barnsley.

The Polish midfielder appeared to tweet out his annoyance at missing out for Leeds’ trip to Oakwell, as reported by HITC, but he could not have any complaints after the match.

Leeds put in a sparkling display to win 2-0, and Klich’s participation against Aston Villa tomorrow evening now seems unlikely.

Klich has not played in the Championship since way back in September, and it would be a surprise if Christiansen included him tomorrow.

However, the Leeds boss insists that Klich still has time on his side, and he could feature over the busy Christmas period.

“Well he is a defensive midfielder, this is his position on the pitch,” Christiansen said.

“Right now I have three or four in this situation and I have to choose.

“We will talk about that, we have a long time in January with many games, things can change. I need everybody focused.”

Klich has actually linked with a move away from Leeds in the January transfer window, with a host of Eredivisie sides said to be interested in the defensive midfielder by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
