Leeds United striker Chris Wood has been linked with moves away from Elland Road in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has explained to The Yorkshire Evening Post why Chris Wood should not leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Wood is one of the best strikers in the Championship and is a key player for Leeds, but the New Zealand international has been linked with moves away from Elland Road in the summer transfer window.

According to The Daily Mail, Premier League club Burnley are interested in signing the 25-year-old this summer.

It has been reported that the Clarets are set to make a bid of £20 million for Wood after having their initial offer of £12m plus add-ons rejected.

The Birmingham Mail has credited West Bromwich Albion with interest in the former Leicester City striker.

Leeds head coach Christiansen wants Wood to remain at Elland Road and has outlined a reason why the striker should not leave.

Christiansen has warned that if the former West Brom striker moves to a Premier League club, then he could struggle to play regularly, whereas at Leeds he is the main man upfront.

“All the players want to try and play in the Premier League,” Christiansen told The Yorkshire Evening Post about Wood.

“But here he’s an important player. If he goes, will he be first or second choice or third choice? He will not have the guarantee.

“Here he’s an important player for the team and he’s one who can help the team to reach their goals. Why not dream that next year he could be playing in the best league (with Leeds)?”
