Leeds United caught people by surprise when they announced Thomas Christiansen was set to take over from Garry Monk.
Thomas Christiansen has guaranteed Leeds United fans that he will work as hard as possible to make a success of his time at Elland Road, during an interview with Radio Yorkshire.
Christiansen’s appointment took Leeds fans by shock, and his low-profile has caused some concerns.
The 44-year-old boss has never managed outside of Cyprus before, and his last job was in charge of APOEL.
Christiansen has some work to do to win over the Leeds support, but he has promised that he will do everything within his power to make a success of his time at the Yorkshire club.
And Christiansen also wants Leeds’ current squad to realise just how fortunate they are to be playing for such a big side.
“I can guarantee them hard work from my side and I want to have players who are ambitious, and want to give 100%,” he said.
“They have to feel proud of where they are and to give everything. If we succeed in that, we have taken a big step forward.”
Christiansen is under pressure to make a fast start at Leeds, as he will need to get the Elland Road crowd onside.
Leeds finished in seventh place in last season’s Championship, and the task for Christiansen will be to take the Whites one step further – and help them make it into the play offs.
