Do Leeds United need to sign a left-back in the January transfer window?

Gaetano Berardi has been playing as a left-back this season, although the Switzerland international is right-footed and is best utilised as a right-back.
The 29-year-old former Brescia and Sampdoria star recently admitted to The Yorkshire Post that Leeds probably need a better left-back than him.

Leeds head coach Christiansen told Leeds Live: “I will not say I am going to sign a left-back. We are working on the situations, it is difficult to sign somebody in the winter period.”
Christiansen’s comments about signing a left-back are quite cryptic. If the Leeds head coach did not want a new player in that position, then he would have made it perfectly clear.
Could it be that the West Yorkshire outfit are aware of the need to sign a left-back, but they are simply unable to find a quality player for that position?

After all, there are not too many solid left-backs available in the January transfer window, especially not at a decent price.
Leeds are going strong in the Championship at the moment and are very much in the race for the playoffs.
The West Yorkshire outfit will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Hull City at Elland Road in the league.
