Leeds United thrashed Newport County 5-1 on Tuesday night.

Thomas Christiansen has told TV Yorkshire that he didn’t like Leeds United’s first-half performance at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
Leeds cruised into the third round of the League Cup with a 5-1 demolition of Newport County last night, but they had a scare early on.
County looked set for a 1-0 half-time lead following Joss Labadie’s opener on 33 minutes, but Kemar Roofe struck just before the break to level things up.

From there, it was easy for Christiasen’s side as Roofe picked up two more to complete his hat-trick, while goals in the final quarter from Samu Saiz – his fourth of the competition – and Ronaldo Vieira put the gloss on an emphatic win for the Whites.
Nevertheless, although the 44-year-old is pleased with such a ruthless second-half showing, Christiansen admits to being disappointed by a sluggish first 45 from his side.

He told TV Yorkshire: “We didn’t do some things right in the first half and this is where I am a little bit disappointed, but the response in the second half was good.”
United have won four of their six games in all competitions, losing none, and another victory away to Nottingham Forest this weekend could represent a brilliant start to the season ahead of the international break.
