The Dane calls on Leeds United fans to be close to the team once again.

Thomas Christiansen has told LUTV that he aims to make the Leeds United fans proud of him and his team.
The 44-year-old was named as Leeds’ head coach earlier this week following Garry Monk’s shock resignation last month.
He was not a big-name appointment but he did manage to win Cyprus’s top-flight division with APOEL Nicosia last season, as well as guiding them to a last-16 finish in the Europa League earlier in the calendar year.

He is charged with the task of leading United to promotion after the Whites finished seventh in the Championship last season.
The famous Elland Road support played a big role in their hunt for a playoff spot last term, with the Yorkshire club only losing five home matches – and two of them came in the first few weeks of Monk’s reign in charge.
With that in mind, the supporters could well have a big role to play again next time around, and Christiansen has called on them to be “close” to the team once more.

Asked if he had a message for Leeds fans, he told LUTV: “I want them to be close to the team. From what I have seen and heard they are very good and very strong fans.
“I will try to give my input to the team so they feel closer to the fans and make them proud of the team.”
Leeds kick off the 2017-18 campaign with a trip to newly-promoted Bolton Wanderers on August 6.
