Mateusz Klich moved to FC Utrecht on loan from Leeds United in the January transfer window.
It is never nice to see a club part company with a manager, but one suspects that Mateusz Klich will probably not be too fussed about Leeds United dismissing Thomas Christiansen.
On the contrary, the Poland international midfielder will probably see the departure of Christiansen as a boost to his chances of playing for Leeds again.
Signed from FC Twente in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post to be worth £1.5 million, the 27-year-old managed just 131 minutes of Championship football before being sent out on loan to FC Utrecht in the January transfer window.
Not only did the 27-year-old failed to get playing time under Christiansen, but the midfielder was also left out of matchday squads far too often and was clearly not fancied by the then Leeds head coach.
Leeds fans have not seen enough of Klich, who will know that the door has now opened for him at Elland Road, and that his chances of playing for the club again have been given a boost.
What Klich now needs to do is have a good second half of the season at Utrecht and then return to Leeds with the firm intention of impressing the new manager.
