Leeds United have received mixed news ahead of their huge Championship clash with Sheffield United at Elland Road on Friday.

Thomas Christiansen has told LUTV that Leeds will have Stuart Dallas back for the Whites’ crucial Championship clash with Sheffield United, but the game will come too soon for Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

Despite losing to Leicester in the Carabao Cup in midweek, the Whites go into their Yorkshire derby with the Blades on Friday in buoyant mood having beaten Bristol City 3-0 last weekend to end the Robins’ unbeaten start to the season at home and end Leeds’ three-game losing streak.

Stuart Dallas of Leeds scores the winning penalty during the Carabao Cup Third Round match between Burnley and Leeds United at Turf Moor on September 19, 2017 in Burnley, England.

The game against Bristol City saw Dallas drop out of the squad due to the sad news that his mother had passed away in the build-up to the fixture. But Christiansen has confirmed that the Northern Ireland winger will be in line to feature against Chris Wilder’s men.

“He will be in the squad, yes,” he told LUTV.

However, there is some not so good news for the Whites regarding loanee Borthwick-Jackson. The left-back performed well when he really needed to as he got a rare chance against the Foxes, but had to be taken off at the break due to an injury, and Christiansen suggested that he will miss Friday’s game.

“The ankle, and he will be out,” he added, when asked what the problem was.

It is torrid luck for Borthwick-Jackson as he showed signs that suggested that he could turn his fortunes around after a difficult start to life at Elland Road before injury struck, and with Gaetano Berardi suspended there may have perhaps been scope for the youngster to enjoy a prolonged chance to prove himself.

It will be a boost however, for Leeds to have Dallas back in the side. The winger rarely lets the team down, and that could be extremely valuable in a game which could be so important to both sides’ momentum.
