Leeds United were dumped out of the FA Cup after they lost to League Two side Newport County at Rodney Parade.

The visitors took the lead inside ten minutes when Gaetano Berardi scored from distance.

In the second half an own goal from Conor Shaughnessy put the hosts back in the game with 15 minutes remaining. Shawn McCoulsky scored the winner in the 89th minute for the home side, who were superb during the game.

After the match, Christiansen was asked whether Leeds need to sign players in January, to which he replied that the club need to talk about it.

“This is something we need to talk about,” said Christiansen, as quoted by Leeds Live.

When further asked if it is an urgent conversation, he added that he needs to speak with board members and see what happens.

“We need to speak and see what happens,” he added.

With this defeat Leeds have now gone without a win in their last three games. Obviously, bowing out of the FA Cup is a disappointment, but Leeds should focus on the league now.

They have lost just once in their last eight Championship games, and are one of the contenders for promotion to the Premier League.

The January transfer window is crucial for the club, and Christiansen should be aiming to add a few players to his ranks to bolster the squad so that the team do not run out of steam like last season.
