Leeds United have more strings to their bow this season compared to Garry Monk’s side.
Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen has told Radio Yorkshire that he doesn’t care who scores for his side providing the three points come at the end.
Under Christiansen, Leeds have scored nine more goals than Garry Monk’s side managed last season after 19 Championship games and it is believed that not being so reliant on one player has made United a much more dimensional team since Chris Wood left in the summer.
Wood scored a massive 27 of the Whites’ 61 league goals last season and, given the fact that Souleymane Doukara was their second top goalscorer in the Championship with six, it should illustrate how dependent they were on the big New Zealand marksman.
There is much more variety to the Yorkshire club going forward this season, with Egzjan Alioski, Kalvin Phillips, Samu Saiz and Pierre-Michel Lasogga all netting five league goals so far.
But Christiansen insists that he does not care about such things and says that victories, regardless of how they come or where they come from, are ultimately the most important thing.
“If we have players up front who can score goals, different players, then it’s very good but finally what we all want is the three points. It doesn’t matter who scored or how good we play,” he told Radio Yorkshire when asked if ending a reliance on Wood meant that Leeds were a better side.
“Sometimes you can play very well and not even take one point.”
