Leeds United players will choose their own captain, says the head coach.
Thomas Christiansen has revealed to Radio Yorkshire that the Leeds United players will select their own captain this season.
Much has been made over who Christiansen will choose to wear the armband in his first season at Elland Road.
Liam Bridcutt was the choice of his predecessor Garry Monk but it remains to be seen whether the Leeds midfielder retains that role.

However, the 44-year-old says the decision is not up to him, revealing to Radio Yorkshire that he has entrusted his playing staff to pick their own leader.
Asked who the captain will be, Christiansen said: “I believe the captain is somebody who has to be picked by the players. I want a captain who will be respected by the players, one who they look up to. I said to the players that they must choose who they want to represent the team.”
It is an odd methodology from Christiansen, a former Spain international and the armband does not seem to be as significant in other European leagues as it is in England.
Leeds fans will hope that Pontus Jansson is given the role. He is certainly a well liked and well respected figure in the dressing room, while Chris Wood might be a lead-by-example candidate, after scoring 30 goals last season.
