The Leeds United marksman is close to a return to full fitness.
Thomas Christiansen has told LUTV that Leeds United striker Caleb Ekuban is close to a return to full fitness.
The Leeds striker has been out of action since early September after undergoing surgery on a broken foot sustained in the Championship win at Sunderland.
The initial prognosis was that the £500,000 summer signing from Chievo Verona was set to miss eight weeks of action.
Six weeks on and Christiansen confirms that the Whites striker, who has scored once this season, is close.
Asked on LUTV if Ekuban is getting close to a return, Christiansen said: “He is getting much closer, yes.”
One man who is fit to face Reading on Saturday is Republic of Ireland midfielder Eunan O’Kane.
Ireland boss Martin O’Neill said that the former Bournemouth midfielder played with cracked ribs during Leeds’ 3-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday before the international break.
But Christiansen laughed that one off by saying that he did not know O’Neill was a doctor.
He added: “Perhaps the coach is a doctor now, but I don’t know the situation.”
United have lost three of their last four Championship games and a big response is needed against the Royals this weekend.
