Leeds United caused an upset in the Carabao Cup last night, knocking out Premier League side Burnley.

Thomas Christiansen has told Radio Yorkshire that Pablo Hernandez’s performance for Leeds United against Burnley was ‘perfect’.

Hernandez came off the substitutes’ bench for Leeds during the contest, and played a key role at the Whites pulled off an upset at Turf Moor.

Hernandez set up Hadi Sacko’s first goal in the contest, before converting from the spot in normal time.

The Spaniard’s penalty had looked to have put Leeds into the next round, but somehow Burnley hit back in the last minute to take the match to extra-time.

With the scores locked at 2-2, the match ended up heading to a penalty shoot out.

And Hernandez managed to score from the spot, to help Leeds win on spot kicks and progress to the fourth round.

And Christiansen said: “It was perfect. That was the idea we had [when we brought him on], but not that we had to play 120 minutes.”

Hernandez has certainly done his chances of starting in Leeds’ next match no harm with his performances last night.

The experienced play maker was highly impressive, with Leeds’ excellent start to the season continuing.

Leeds’ next league match comes against Ipswich Town on Saturday, when they will be looking to protect their position at the top of the Championship table.
