The Leeds United manager watched his side lose convincingly to Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Cardiff City and Leeds United at Cardiff City Stadium on September 26, 2017 in Cardiff, Wales.

Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has been speaking to the club’s official Twitter account following his side’s 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday this weekend, and he did not hold back.

Leeds had looked genuine title contenders over the first few weeks of the campaign, but consecutive defeats to Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday have seen them hit the skids in dramatic and alarming fashion.

The Whites knew they had to prove a point against the Owls but it was not to be, with Wednesday winning comfortably courtesy of goals from Garry Hooper (2) and Kieran Lee, and after the match Christiansen explained what he made of the encounter.

“The result was bad, in the first 20 minutes we did well, but didn’t score from our opportunities,” the Leeds boss told his press conference.

“After our start we were soft in defence, and soft in attack. In this league you can’t afford to only be 80 or 90 per cent.”

The Leeds manager now has two weeks to put things right with another international break interrupting the season yet again.

Given Leeds’ recent away performances the break could have come at the ideal time, allowing the players to regroup and ensure their slump is a temporary one.

Leeds’ early wins always needed to be put in context given the opposition, and they need to ensure they are also racking up the victories against other clubs pushing for a top-six finish.
