Championship side Leeds United take on Leicester City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

Thomas Christiansen has told LUTV that Cameron Borthwick-Jackson will be in the squad for Leeds’ clash with Leicester City on Tuesday, but Stuart Dallas and Caleb Ekuban will not be involved – though he did offer some fairly encouraging news regarding the latter.

The Whites take on Leicester at the King Power Stadium this week looking to reach the EFL Cup quarter-final for a second consecutive year, and they go into the game off the back of an impressive 3-0 win over Bristol City at the weekend.

Stuart Dallas of Leeds scores the winning penalty during the Carabao Cup Third Round match between Burnley and Leeds United at Turf Moor on September 19, 2017 in Burnley, England.

One player who was absent for the game was Dallas, with Christiansen confirming after the contest, in comments reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, that the Northern Ireland international had sadly lost his mother before the fixture. And the Leeds boss confirmed that the winger will not be involved on Tuesday.

“He will be missing, yes,” he told LUTV.

One player who could well be involved against the Premier League side is Cameron Borthwick-Jackson. The rarely-seen loanee has seemingly fallen out of favour over the last few weeks at Elland Road, but Christiansen suggested that he is set to come back into the fold against Leicester.

“He is in the squad so we will see tomorrow [whether he plays],” he added.

Finally, one member of the Leeds squad that Whites fans will be looking forward to seeing when he does return is Ekuban, who has been injured since his league debut for the club back in August. While Christiansen could not suggest when he will be back, he did hint that the return date is swiftly approaching.

“He’s still injured but he’s been working very well, very intensely during the last two weeks. It’s not a long time [until he’s] available.”

Christiansen appears to have developed a reputation for being coy when it comes to disclosing injury information, so the fact that he has confirmed that Ekuban is not far off a return should be extremely encouraging for the Leeds fans who are excited to see what he can do.

As for Borthwick-Jackson, he will be hoping, if he gets the chance to play, that he can emulate what Ronaldo Vieira did at the weekend and put in a performance that gives Christiansen a selection headache after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
