Thomas Christiansen admits change he could make at Leeds United against Sheffield United

Leeds United and Sheffield United are due to meet at Elland Road later this evening.

Thomas Christiansen has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Leeds United could line up in a 3-5-2 system against Sheffield United this evening.

Christiansen has always used his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation since taking charge at Elland Road, but his lack of full-back options are now a concern.

Leeds are without first choice left-back Gaetano Berardi for their match against Sheffield United tonight, with the Swiss defender out through suspension.

And Christiansen has suggested that he could now look to spring a tactical surprise against the Blades.

“Perhaps. They [Sheffield United] play with another system so I will see what I do. That could be a possibility,” Christiansen said. “The players could be comfortable with that.”

If Leeds do go with a three-at-back formation, they will match Sheffield United’s team shape.

Leeds go into their game against the Blades on the back of an impressive 3-0 victory over Bristol City in their last league fixture.

Leeds are now in fourth place in the Championship table, but they are still having to look up to Sheffield United, who have been the division’s surprise package so far.

Chris Wilder’s side have coped brilliantly since promotion, and are currently in third place in the second tier standings.
