Pundit Chris Sutton has backed Morgan Schneiderlin’s proposed move to Everton.
Pundit Chris Sutton has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Morgan Schneiderlin leaving Manchester United for Everton would be a great move for all involved.
Schneiderlin, 27, had established himself as one of the Premier League’s top central midfielders during his time with Southampton, and his superb displays earned him a 2015 move to Manchester United.
Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin
The Frenchman was in and out of the United team under Louis van Gaal last season as he started 25 of the club’s 38 Premier League games, despite the Red Devils paying £25million to sign him, as reported by BBC Sport at the time of his signing.
This term, Schneiderlin has become something of a forgotten man at Old Trafford, as Jose Mourinho has handed him just 11 minutes of Premier League action across three substitute apperances.
With little chance of first-team football under Mourinho, Schneiderlin is seemingly set to leave Old Trafford this month, with Premier League clubs unsurprisingly keen on his signature based on his time at Southampton.

Mourinho confirmed to The Guardian last month that West Brom’s bid for the player had been rejected, with many now expecting Scheniderlin to join Everton in order to reunite with his former Southampton boss Ronald Koeman.
The Manchester Evening News claimed on Friday that Schneiderlin is set for a medical with Everton, and whilst that seemingly hasn’t been completed just yet, a deal worth over £20million appears to be in the pipeline.
Now, pundit Chris Sutton has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Schneiderlin joining Everton would be a ‘good move’, as the midfielder isn’t playing for United, and would fill an area of need at Everton, whilst a reunion with Koeman could help reverse Everton’s patchy form of late.
“This would be a good move for both parties. Schneiderlin is not getting a look in at United and Everton need strengthening in midfield,” said Sutton. “Ronald Koeman knows Schneiderlin from their Southampton days and he is one the manager can rely on to help reverse Everton’s poor form,” he added.
