Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react to a clumsy second-minute moment between Adrian and Joe Gomez in the Champions League win over Ajax.
The former Charlton defender was shielding the ball towards the Spanish shot-stopper, seemingly with the expectation that he would gather it safely.
Instead, Adrian came out and put his foot through the ball, tumbling into Gomez in the process and leaving the England international looking far from impressed, judging by his facial expression.
In all honesty, neither of them were at fault for the incident, which happened in the second minute according to The Guardian‘s live blog.
Gomez did well to shield the ball and fend off David Neres, and Adrian also did well to take no chances and simply clear his lines.
Yes, he could’ve picked it up, but there was only a slither of his box remaining, so perhaps he didn’t feel comfortable sliding in to gather it and possibly taking the ball outside of his area on the greasy turf.
Adrian did make amends with a fantastic save shortly before Sadio Mane forced an opening goal, which came off Nicolas Tagliafico and into Andre Onana’s net.
Regardless, Gomez didn’t look too pleased, and the incident has sparked a reaction from supporters on Twitter.
