Arsenal fans aren’t happy with the rumours that the club are signalling an intention to hand Alexandre Lacazette a new contract.
ESPN have claimed that Mikel Arteta wants to hand the Arsenal hitman a new deal, with the player an important figure in the dressing room.
And whilst Lacazette has been one of Arsenal’s better players during a pretty abject season for the club, it seems as though fans aren’t too keen on handing an ageing player a new deal.
The 29-year-old, who turns 30 in May, has largely struggled during his days in North London and has constantly found himself being dropped to the bench or being that first change when handed a start.
Lacazette has one-year left on his current deal and Arsenal need to either extend his contract or sell him in the summer.
Or, they do the typical Arsenal thing and allow the £47 million Frenchman (BBC Sport) to see out his contract, which would still result in the club losing out on a potential fee.
But whilst Lacazette is Arsenal’s top goal-getter in the Premier League with 11 goals, fans think that the club needs to look for the future, purchase a younger player and let their current star leave.
