
Some Leeds United fans on social media have been reacting after seeing the outcome of their appeal against Pascal Struijk’s red card.
The defender was sent off against Liverpool on Sunday for a controversial challenge that left Harvey Elliott seriously injured.
To be honest, the actual tackle wasn’t a shocker. Struijk made a genuine attempt to get the ball, he wasn’t out of control and he didn’t try to injure his opponent.
Unfortunately, his tackle left Elliott seriously injured, but even after dislocating his ankle, Elliott has admitted that the challenge wasn’t Struijk’s fault.
So, was his red card overturned? Some Leeds fans certainly believe it should have been.
Unfortunately, it’s often hard to get the FA to go against a referee’s on-field decision, especially in the era of VAR, and the powers that be have decided that Struijk has been adequately punished for his offence.
Indeed, the FA have decided that his suspension should be upheld, and as you can imagine, United supporters aren’t best pleased.
