Chelsea could make a new and improved bid for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo this week.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano on his latest YouTube video. The Italian journalist claims that Chelsea will go back in with another bid for the Ecuadorian midfielder after Mauricio Pochettino’s side saw their first offer rejected by Brighton.
Romano also says that this week could be the week that the deal for Moises Caicedo could progress.
The Italian journalist has reported that Chelsea are hopeful of getting the deal done in the coming weeks.
After missing out on European football altogether last season, the signing of the midfielder cannot be understated.
The midfielder was superb for Brighton last season and there is hope that Caicedo will complete the midfield revamp needed at Stamford Bridge.
Romano said: “Entering into new week and there is an expectation that Chelsea are prepared to improve their proposal for Caicedo,
“£70m + 10m is not enough, Chelsea’s bid is set to be more than £70m + add-ons to convince Brighton.
“Hope at Chelsea is to get bid done this week. Conversation ongoing every day.”
Moises Caicedo could cap off Chelsea’s midfield rebuild
As mentioned, the signing of the 21-year-old could potentially be the key to ensuring Chelsea are fully prepared for the new season under their new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

A midfield-two of Enzo Fernandez and Caicedo in Pochettino’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation would be a transformational upgrade for the Chelsea midfield, which has been in need of a rebuild for a while.
However, a move for the Ecuadorian is seemingly not as close as Romano is saying, going by reports from the Daily Mail.
Joe Bernstein of the Mail claims that Brighton are expecting to include Caicedo in their pre-season tour squad as neither Chelsea nor Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have come close to the South Coast side’s valuation.
With a £100 million price tag on Caicedo, Chelsea have Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia on their list of back-ups should the deal to take the Ecuadorian, who described the Blues as a beautiful club when speaking to La Cancha Con Majo, fail to materialise.
