Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has suggested that he plans to stay at the club for the rest of the season, as quoted on TEAMtalk.
Winks has been linked with an exit from Tottenham in the January transfer window.
According to AS this month, Valencia in Spain are interested in signing the England international midfielder.
The report in the Spanish publication has claimed that the La Liga outfit have already made contact with Tottenham over a potential transfer.
However, it seems that Winks is not planning to leave Spurs, outlining his ambition to win a trophy with the North London club this season.
TEAMtalk quotes Winks as saying: “I was in the stand with my dad. We were in the top tier at Wembley and I remember being there for an hour after the game watching all the players celebrate on the pitch. It would be brilliant if we could do the same this season.
“We don’t take too much notice of what people say about that. We’ve wanted to win a trophy every season, regardless of what people have said. Every footballer in the world wants to win trophies and we’re no different.
“We obviously know there has been a bit of hype around Tottenham not winning a trophy for so long. But that hasn’t changed our mindset. We still want to win a trophy.”
Stay or leave?
Winks is a very good midfielder who has a lot of experience, and with a place in the England squad at stake for the European Championship in the summer of 2021, the midfielder needs to play regular first-team football in the coming weeks and months.
The 24-year-old is unlikely to do that under head coach Jose Mourinho, and the midfielder does have a big decision to make on his immediate future.
According to WhoScored, Winks has made five starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League, and has scored one goal in five Europa League matches for Tottenham so far this season.
