Arsenal fans on Twitter are worried that they have, once again, rushed back Thomas Partey.
Ahead of Arsenal’s Europa League tie with Benfica today, Mikel Arteta told his pre-match press conference that Partey has travelled to Athens.
Whilst Arsenal fans would like a fully-fit Partey trying to help them progress through to the next round of the Europa League, they fear he will, once again, hobble off with some sort of injury.
It does seem as though a lot is riding on this game for the Gunners, with defeat potentially ending their campaign in terms of what they can achieve.
If Arteta’s men lose today then they cannot win a trophy this season, and given their current league position – bottom half – you could, or should, probably rule out a European finish.
But it’s a catch-22 situation for the Arsenal fans.
On one hand, they want to progress, but on the other, they fear risking Partey to another injury and losing him medium to long term.
So, the best-case scenario would be for Partey to start, be injury-free after the game and for Arsenal to progress.
The worst-case? Partey injured again and Arsenal knocked out. So, can they progress by not starting him?
