Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after learning that Blackburn have invited Harvey Elliott back to Ewood Park as a special guest.

What’s the story?

Well, this is quite the gesture from Blackburn, and the Liverpool fans seemed to love hearing about it.

Blackburn have invited Elliott back to Lancashire to watch Monday’s game against Middlesbrough, after his stint on loan with Rovers last season.

The 18-year-old only played 42 games for the Championship side, but he dazzled Tony Mowbray and supporters with seven goals and 11 assists.

Elliott’s efforts saw him nominated for the EFL Young Player of the Year award, but sadly, he lost out to Michael Olise, who was signed by Crystal Palace.

Nevertheless, Elliott has seemingly earned more than just that nomination – he has earned the respect and love of Blackburn.

The teenager will be in the hospitality lounges prior to the match, and will also be welcomed out onto the pitch just before kick-off.

It should be a special occasion, to say the least.

Liverpool should send more prospects to Blackburn

In our view, the Reds should send more of their blossoming prospects on loan to Ewood Park.

Blackburn helped mould Elliott into a player ready to walk straight into the starting XI at Anfield, which doesn’t happen often.

Clearly, Rovers take good care of their loanees, even after their time at the club has come to an end.

Presumably, Liverpool will be pleased to hear of this invite – it could even be the pick-me-up Elliott needs after so long on the sidelines.

Thankfully, the Liverpool No.67 is nearing a return to action.

For now, let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about Blackburn’s kind gesture…
