Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club posted an update on the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
What’s the story?
Well, Everton have made significant progress with their new stadium, as the Bramley-Moore Dock has now been filled in.
The Toffees needed to displace the water from the site, before pouring significant amounts of sand into the space to create a foundation.
Everton revealed that it has taken three months for the space to be filled with 450,000 cubic metres of sand, but the work has been a success.
Now, there is a solid foundation for the new 52,888-capacity stadium to be built.
The second phase of ground works has already begun, according to the announcement.
Now, the sand must be compacted, which is done by dropping a 16-tonne weight at a frequency of 60 times per minute according to Jonathon Rowe, Ground Engineering Associate and Job Leader.
Things just get better for Everton after stadium update
A win over Arsenal, courtesy of a last gasp screamer, and now this – what a week it’s been for the Everton supporters.
In the nicest way possible, the departure of Marcel Brands has also added to the positives, as the Dutchman was responsible for some woeful signings during his time at Goodison Park.
Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright have made many mistakes, although they will go some way to redeeming themselves with this stadium.
It will be a state-of-the-art facility, one which will hopefully help to attract world-class players to Everton in years to come.
Goodison Park is a wonderful, old fashioned ground, but if Everton are to advance as a club, they will need an upgrade.
By the looks of the announcement, things are certainly running smoothly for the Toffees.
