Some Arsenal fans on social media have been reacting to William Saliba’s comments in his official unveiling at Nice.

The Frenchman spoke to the press after joining the Ligue 1 outfit on loan, and he had plenty of interesting things to say.

The defender answered questions on whether or not he’ll be staying in France beyond the summer, but perhaps most importantly, he spoke about what Mikel Arteta’s first impression of him was.

Unfortauntely for Saliba, Arteta didn’t think all that much of him, immediately claiming that he wasn’t ready to play for Arsenal.

The coach immediately told me that I was not ready. I would have at least liked to have had a chance to rediscover my rhythm. But this is football, it’s like that,” Saliba said.

Understandably, the Arsenal fanbase had a lot to say about these comments.

Some fans weren’t best pleased with Arteta’s handling of the situation, with one supporter saying that it paints him in a bad light, while another joked that the gaffer had learned his man-management skills from Jose Mourinho, who is famed for being very blunt and straight-forward with his players.

However, others had a more optimistic view of these comments, with one fan saying that he was happy with the maturity shown by Saliba in accepting Arteta’s point of view, while another said it was good that Arteta had been honest with his player.

Here’s what the Gunners fanbase have been saying on social media…
