Ryan Clark’s exit from ESPN over recent days has become the talk of the NFL community.

The 46-year-old former safety is not the only sports analyst that has lost their job as a result of ESPN’s cost-cutting measures.

More departures are expected to follow as the network looks to make some significant changes ahead of the start of the new 2026 NFL season.

Numerous members of both ESPN and the wider NFL community have spoken out about the firings, with Clark’s clearly the exit that has sparked the biggest backlash.

However, NFL fans have been left stunned by the prospect of who has become the next to depart ESPN.

NFL fans react to Tom Pelissero’s ESPN firing

On Wednesday morning, Pelissero announced his departure from ESPN on his X account.

Pelissero is one of the most established NFL broadcasters around, with this news taking a lot of people by surprise.

‘I’m rarely shocked by these anymore, but this one is pretty shocking. I don’t imagine he’d be out of work long, but Tom to me is the best of the NFL insiders,’ said one Seattle Seahawks fan.

‘This is crazy – he is the best one,’ another replied.

The NFL insider has been a part of ESPN’s network since 2017 and become a household name with sports fans.

‘Yeah this one is wild,’ responded another NFL fan.

One fan is convinced Pelissero will find another job almost instantly, they said: ‘That is legitimately insane. He will be out of a job for 24 minutes’.

Pelissero has amassed almost 900k followers on X having become one of the top NFL insiders in the industry.

Another fan took aim at ESPN, as they believed they’d let go of their top man: ‘Dropping your best analyst is a bold strategy’.

One fan wished Pelissero the best in his hunt for his next opportunity, they said: ‘You’re the very best of the Insiders. We’ll see you very soon somewhere. Good luck.’
