Dharmesh Sheth has claimed that Napoli are ‘interested’ in signing Arsenal defender, Sead Kolašinac, as he told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (10/01/22 at 5:30 pm).

The Sky reporter suggested that the Arsenal defender is seemingly wanted by two clubs in Napoli, as well as Ligue 1 side Marseille.

Kolašinac has two men in front of him in the left-back pecking order in regular Kieran Tierney and summer signing, Nuno Tavares.

Added with that, the 28-year-old’s contract in north London expires in the summer, so the signs are pretty clear that he will be heading for the exit door.

Whether he leaves directly this month, or signs a pre-contract agreement to leave in the summer, remains to be seen.

But amid Napoli’s interest, transfer expert, Sheth, did point towards the hard-hitting defender possibly signing a pre-contract agreement with Marseille.

“This one has come to us today,” said Sheth. “Sead Kolasinac is out-of-contract in the summer.

“Marseille are in talks, we are told, with his representatives over a pre-contract agreement that would allow him to move for free in the summer. Napoli are also interested.”

To put it in a blunt fashion, Kolašinac is yet another signing that hasn’t worked out for Arsenal and one that needs to move on.

Apart from early glimpses, he didn’t showcase that he is worthy of taking Arsenal forward or being a long-term player from that left-back spot.

But, it’s a different story with Tierney, who has been one of the club’s best buys over the years and he is going to be a long-term player.

Tavares may have showcased his frustration in a game to forget against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, but he has also shown promising signs.
