Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been discussing Arsenal’s hunt for a new winger and Ferran Torres.
The Barcelona winger has been linked with the Gunners over the past fortnight or so, and according to Bailey this is a transfer that has a genuine chance of happening.
Indeed, the journalist says that there is a strong chance of Torres joining Arsenal, while he also talked up how good of a fit the Spaniard would be under Mikel Arteta.
Torres could join Arsenal
The reporter shared what he knows about this situation.
“The one interesting player at Barcelona we should keep an eye on is Ferran Torres. We’ve done a story on this. Arsenal have liked him for a long time even before he left City. I think he’s a perfect fit for Arsenal,” Bailey said.
“Under the radar this could be a sensational pick up for Arsenal. This is a player who knows he’s in and out at Barca because of how they do business and there’s no room for him. Under Arteta at Arsenal he could be a masterstroke. Keep an eye on this, this one could happen.”
Answer to their prayers
Torres could be just what the doctor ordered at Arsenal.
The Gunners are in need of a new winger – hence the lengthy pursuit of Mykhaylo Mudryk, but they also need a number nine in the absence of Gabriel Jesus.
Torres, luckily, can play in both of those positions to a high level and after being educated by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, it shouldn’t be difficult for the Spaniard to adapt to Mikel Arteta’s system at Arsenal.
This could be a brilliant signing if Arsenal can find out a way to get this deal done.
