Harvey Elliott has posted on his Instagram story that Tyler Morton’s loan move from Liverpool to Blackburn Rovers makes him ‘so happy’.

The 19-year-old is set to spend the season at Ewood Park, with the summer-appointed manager, Jon Dahl Tomasson, pushing for a possible play-off finish this season.

Elliott will know too well the benefits of moving to the Championship and donning the colours of Blackburn because it did his career the world of good a number of seasons ago.

As soon as the attack-minded midfielder returned to Merseyside, Jurgen Klopp threw him straight into the deep end, before injury took months out of his season, but ahead of the new campaign, he could start Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Fulham on Saturday.

That’s where Morton will want to be in 12 months’ time, as he will learn the rough and tumble nature of England’s second-tier.

Nonetheless, when Morton’s loan deal was confirmed, Elliott posted the following message to his teammate on social media.

“Ah man, this makes me so happy!!,” Elliott wrote on his IG story. “Proud of your bro @tylermorton6. Good luck.”

OPENING DAY WIN FOR ROVERS

From a squad perspective, both in regards to quality, depth, money spent and players being settled, there is more pressure on other teams in the division.

But Rovers will want to push for those play-off spots, as a player like Morton, his experiences with Liverpool, in the Premier League and the Champions League, will do the club the world of good.

A tall, gangly figure, Morton has great composure on the ball, he makes the right decisions and his defensive positioning is of top-quality.

Perhaps some might want the teenager to bulk up during these coming years to add that oomph to his game and much-needed aggression.

Wherever Morton takes his game, he has been learning off one of the world’s best number six’s in Fabinho and now he will add some much-needed experience to his ranks.
