Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi has played just once for Switzerland.
Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi has jokingly suggested to BBC Sport (17:57) that he does not hope to play international football again.
Berardi, who can operate as a right-back or as a left-back, has played just once for the Switzerland national team so far in his career.
That was back in 2011 when he was at Italian club Brescia, and the 28-year-old has suggested that he does not hope to play international football again.
The former Brescia and Sampdoria defender has also commented on his own form, stating that he feels that he is playing well at the moment.

“My form, I think, is good and I’m just trying to do my best every game,” Berardi told BBC Sport (17:55).
“We have a good team and good players, and the manager and the staff are working well,” added Berardi (17:57). “We focus on the next game, work a lot on formations every day – everybody enjoys the sessions and I think we are showing what we can do.
“The atmosphere is very good: every day in the dressing room, before the game and after the game. I think I’m too old for international football now, though!”

Berardi is a good defender, and his versatility to play at right-back and at left-back is an asset.
Switzerland have a strong squad, but the Leeds defender should not give up hopes of returning to the national team football.
If the 28-year-old continues to play well and helps the Whites gain promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season, then he will certain attract the attention of Switzerland national team head coach Vladimir Petkovic.
