Roy Keane criticised Tottenham Hotspur right-back Serge Aurier on Sky Sports Football (3:10pm, December 20, 2020).
The former Manchester United midfielder, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, was not impressed by Aurier during the penalty incident against Leicester City in the Premier League game on Sunday.
In first-half injury time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Ivory Coast international right-back committed a foul on Wesley Fofana inside the box.
It was not a challenge that the 27-year-old – who cost Spurs £23 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017, as reported by BBC Sport – needed to have made, and United legend and Sky Sports pundit Keane slammed him.
Keane said about Aurier on Sky Sports Football (3:10pm, December 20, 2020): “There is a word, Jimmy – madness. I want to be careful what I say about this defender, I have been on this road before with him. Utter madness.”
The Sky Sports pundit added: “He wasn’t thinking. He doesn’t think. This lad doesn’t think.”
Disappointing performance from Serge Aurier
Aurier did not have a good game on a personal level for Spurs, who lost the Premier League match 2-0.
The Ivory Coast international right-back was fortunate not to be playing James Maddison onside in a VAR incident, should have done better for the second goal that Leicester scored, and looked shaky and sloppy defensively.
Aurier has done well for Spurs this season, but against Leicester on Sunday, the defender was found wanting.
