Some Rangers fans are reacting to what Celtic interim boss John Kennedy has doubled down on yesterday.
Ibrox plays host on Sunday as Celtic gear up for a tricky trip to their Old Firm rivals Rangers.
The Gers are 20 points clear of Kennedy’s side in the Premiership and have already been crowned champions for the first time since 2011, ending the Hoops’ 10-in-a-row bid.
Steven Gerrard’s side are also unbeaten and have won twice against Celtic already this season, making them big favourites to come out on top and move into the quarter-final at the expense of their rivals tomorrow.
But Kennedy is confident and reiterated his belief that the Bhoys, on their day, are a better team.
He told Sky Sports on Friday: “I am entitled to say that on any given day, especially going into a cup tie against Rangers, I fancy us on our day to come out on top. To bring a bit of clarity to that, Rangers deserved to be the champions this season because they have been more consistent than us, but come a cup game, if we hit top gear and we can perform well, I fancy us to be able to go and win the game.”
Here’s how some Rangers fans reacted to the Scot’s assessment ahead of the Glasgow derby:
Can Celtic beat Rangers on their day? Absolutely.
Problem is, it isn’t often the Hoops’ day any longer. The day – and the season – belongs to Gerrard and his troops. They’ve been far better, far more consistent and chances are, they’ll prove it again at Ibrox.
