Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after Steven Gerrard confirmed that Marvelous Nakamba has suffered a knee injury.
What’s the story?
Well, this is a huge blow for Aston Villa, and for Nakamba himself.
Ever since Steven Gerrard replaced Dean Smith, the £11m man has shone for the Villans, with some fans on Twitter likening him to N’Golo Kante.
Nakamba delivered impressive displays against Brighton, Crystal Palace and Leicester, as he made a good first impression on Gerrard.
Now, however, the 27-year-old will have to miss a significant amount of time, after damaging his knee against Liverpool.
Gerrard confirmed that the extent of the damage will become clearer after Nakamba visits a specialist, which is said to happen sometime today.
It was initially thought that the Aston Villa No.19 had hurt his groin at Anfield, although Gerrard has now revealed that the injury is worse than first thought.
Aston Villa will miss Marvelous Nakamba

Alongside John McGinn and Douglas Luiz in the middle, Nakamba was doing a fantastic job of screening the Aston Villa back four.
The Zimbabwe international has helped the Villans record three wins from Gerrard’s five games so far, playing a huge role in those victories over Brighton, Crystal Palace and Leicester.
Even in defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool, Nakamba impressed.
Now, Gerrard must turn to Jacob Ramsey or Morgan Sanson, both of whom are vastly different players to the Kante-like Nakamba.

It will be interesting to see how the Villans cope in his absence, as players like Nakamba are vital in allowing others to attack freely.
In our view, a lot of defensive solidity will now be lost, as Nakamba gets through the work of two players at times.
For now, let’s see what the Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been saying about Nakamba’s injury…
