Jamie O’Hara has admitted that he can’t stand hearing suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min doesn’t fall into the ‘world class’ bracket.
Son joined Spurs for £22 million in 2015 but this looks set to be his best-ever season in North London.
The 28-year-old has scored 10 goals and set up another five from 13 games in all competitions so far.
Alongside Harry Kane, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho arguably has the two most in-form players in English football right now.
Even before the 2020-21 campaign kicked off, the former Bayer Leverkusen attacker had 56 goals in his last three seasons for Spurs which, for somebody who isn’t a striker, is a sublime return.
Son also scored vital goals in the Champions League to help the North Londoners – then under Mauricio Pochettino – reach the final of the competition, ultimately losing to Liverpool.
And former Tottenham midfielder O’Hara has revealed on talkSPORT that he can’t get over hearing how some football fans don’t feel that he’s one of the finest players in the game today.
He said, when asked by co-host Andy Goldstein whether he was world class: “Absolutely, yes. He’s got everything. He’s got pace, power and can score goals. For me, I don’t even know this is a debate. Even listening to some people say he’s not world class is winding me up. He’s playing in the best league in the world. He has eight goals in eight games this season – two assists – and he’s been doing this for a number of seasons now. He’s consistently one of the best players in the Premier League every season.”
