
Well, who would have thought it? An ex-Evertonian in Phil Jagielka bringing joy to Liverpool supporters last night.
At the start of the season, Liverpool were involved in the shock result of the campaign when they conceded seven at Villa Park and it would have taken something special to beat it.
Well, it could now be argued that it has been topped by a certain Sheffield United, who romped up at Old Trafford as the Premier League’s bottom-of-the-table club to secure all three points against Manchester United.
It certainly pleased a number of Liverpool supporters, who were impressed by the performance of a certain Jagielka and their midfield workman John Fleck.
Jagielka was perhaps Man of the Match as he stopped Man United’s forward line, who had just scored three against Liverpool in the FA Cup, from adding to their only goal through Harry Maguire.
It was some performance from both Jagielka and Fleck, and it’s fair to say, it impressed those on Merseyside.
Jurgen Klopp has had a few choice words to say about Chris Wilder this season, but he will have a big smile on his face today because an opportunity has opened up.

Liverpool, who are six points behind second-placed Manchester United in the Premier League table, can now close that gap to three with a win against Spurs tonight.
It makes the title race even more interesting because it has had more twists and turns than the Nurburgring, and more are no doubt still to come.
