Chelsea hosted Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday but fans in the Stamford Bridge stands grabbed a spotlight by brushing their teeth during the London derby.

The Blues and Cottagers clashed in west London this weekend before enjoying their Premier League winter breaks. Chelsea and Fulham are among the 10 teams playing top-flight games ahead of having a week off. Their next matches are not until January 23 and 24 respectively.

Chelsea hit late in first-half stoppage-time to grab a lead from the penalty spot through Cole Palmer (45’+4). Fulham defender Issa Diop fouled Raheem Sterling inside Bernd Leno’s area nearing the break. Palmer then sent the German the wrong way for his ninth goal this term.

Cole Palmer seals Chelsea a 1-0 win vs Fulham in the west London derby

Palmer’s goal proved enough to give Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea a 1-0 win over Fulham in the west London derby. Marco Silva’s Craven Cottage club could not respond to the first-half penalty. It was the 21-year-old’s ninth goal in 18 Premier League games with the Blues so far.

It was also Palmer’s fifth penalty goal for the Blues since joining from Manchester City. The playmaker further boasts four top-flight assists under Pochettino. His latest goal moved the Stamford Bridge side up to eighth in the table with 31 points through 21 games this season.

Yet while Chelsea and Fulham contested their latest west London derby, fans in the stands at Stamford Bridge also stole the spotlight by brushing their teeth to promote the film ‘Argylle’. Fenomeno Football shared the unusual sight on X, formerly Twitter, during Saturday’s game.

A group of men sat next to the pitch and brushed their teeth in a promotional ploy for the upcoming release of ‘Argylle’. Apple and Universal recently partnered to release the film in theatres on February 2, 2024. The film will also be on Apple TV+ after its theatrical window.

‘Argylle’ is an action-comedy spy film featuring the British actor Henry Cavill which Matthew Vaughn directed. It is due to be the first of a three-part franchise set in multiple locations. It also features pop superstar Dua Lipa making her acting debut as Henry Cavill’s love interest.
