Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Jose Mourinho’s problems are rearing their head again at Tottenham.
The Portuguese manager has developed a knack of showing signs he’s under pressure, and after his unceremonious sackings from Chelsea and Manchester United, we’ve grown accustomed to seeing the signs.
Unfortunately, it seems as though Ferdinand thinks Mourinho is acting in a very similar way to how he did when he was close to being sacked at United and Chelsea.
“Listen, if you look at his recent history of the way it’s ended for him at clubs, this is very similar to what we’ve seen before. Results aren’t going to plan, there’s some disgruntled players, he’s prickly in the press. All of the common things that we’ve seen in recent jobs and how it’s finished, it’s rearing its head again,” Ferdinand said
“It doesn’t look great, but if he can have some turnaround in results, maybe things can be different.”
Ferdinand isn’t wrong.
Mourinho is certainly going through the motions at Tottenham, blaming things that are out of his control, being frosty with the press and seemingly alienating some of his players.
Sadly, history tells us that there’s very rarely any way to come back from this for Mourinho, and with reports emerging about the club already eyeing up successors, it seems as though Mourinho’s job may be at risk.
