Hugo Lloris has compared Tottenham striker Harry Kane to Karim Benzema and Roberto Firmino, as he told Premier League Productions (20/03/22 at 6:45 pm).
The Spurs goalkeeper spoke about Kane dropping deep and causing opposition problems and that ‘evolution’ to his game, before comparing him to the Real Madrid and Liverpool duo.
On Sunday, Kane bagged two assists for his side during Tottenham’s 3-1 win over West Ham United.
Whilst during Kane’s early years, he was known for his ruthless finishing in the final third – and still produces that today.
The 28-year-old, for the past few seasons, has now showcased the qualities he used to produce during his youth days at Tottenham.
There isn’t a game when Kane isn’t dropping deep and pinging passes like Paul Scholes or Xavi in their primes.
Lloris has been there from the get-go and watched Kane develop, as he was asked whether he thought the Englishman was going to become this good in his career.
“It was difficult to predict,” said Lloris. “He always had this skill to finish well in front of the goaL The way he plays, during the past few years, he drops more often and gives more space to the players around him.
“In the way we play, under Antonio Conte, the number nine position is very important. It can demand the ball in space, but also has this interference to drop. Then, in one touches or two touches to change the game, from one side to the other side.
“I think this is the evolution of Harry. A little bit like Karim Benzema used to do or Firmino used to do. But that belongs to the best players.”

There are some who question why Kane drops deep so often, but at the end of the day, when you can ping passes as he can, why wouldn’t you?
Plus, it’s not like Spurs are blessed with creative talent.
It’s perhaps another argument when he constantly does it for England because they have enough players who can match or better him in the passing department.
So, from that perspective, he is better off being selfish and just focusing on rattling the ball into the back of the net.
But it’s what makes him, alongside Real Madrid legend Benzema, one of the best number nine’s in the world today.
