Liverpool fans have just been left frustrated after claims that Kylian Mbappe would be prepared to sign for them.
Duncan Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast yesterday that Mbappe would join Liverpool, if the chance ever presented itself.
“He likes Liverpool. He likes the Premier League,” the insider said. “He likes Jurgen Klopp. I’m not saying it’s his first choice, but he’s very clear with his friends that Liverpool is a club he’s interested in playing for.”
The development looks like a hugely exciting one, but Liverpool fans are bracing themselves not to get stung.
Reds supporters simply don’t want to get their hopes up, as they feel they have no chance of pulling off a deal under their current ownership.
Liverpool have always been very financially prudent under FSG before, so any deal does appear highly unlikely.
The Reds would surely have to make Mbappe the highest paid player in the club’s history to sign him, while breaking their transfer record.
If ever there was a player to blow the budget on, it would be Mbappe though.
The PSG man is a genuinely world class talent, and would make Liverpool an even greater attacking threat if he was to join.
