Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club tweeted an ‘important’ fact about Dilan Markanday.
What’s the story?
Well, the 20-year-old made his Tottenham debut in the 1-0 defeat to Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday, in what was a historic moment for the club.
As well as being a big moment for Markanday, his debut saw Tottenham field their first ever player of Indian descent, and their first British Asian.
Now, that is a huge moment in terms of diversity in football.
Youngsters must see successful reflections of themselves in society, in order to help them believe they have a chance of emulating them.
For young Indian footballers, the sport must feel like a lonely place at times.
So, for them to see Markanday make his debut for one of the biggest clubs in England will surely provide them with huge inspiration.
How did Dilan Markanday do for Tottenham?

After replacing Dane Scarlett in the 75th minute, Markanday looked very lively.
One fan below even said he reminded them of Lorenzo Insigne, the experienced Napoli and Italy forward with 171 career goals.
He certainly made a name for himself, despite having just 15 minutes to show what he can do.

In our view, Markanday has earned himself a Premier League debut.
Ignoring his efforts against Vitesse Arnhem, the wonderkid has scored six goals in seven Premier League 2 games this season, while also providing two assists.
For now, let’s see what the Tottenham fans on Twitter have been saying after Spurs tweeted about Markanday…
