Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool can still challenge for the Premier League title this season, as quoted in London World.

Guardiola has pointed out that Liverpool have the same ingredients that made them Manchester City’s biggest challengers for the Premier League title over the past four or five years.

The Merseyside club are having a torrid time in the league at the moment.

Liverpool are as low as ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 16 points from 12 matches.

Defending champions City are second with 29 points from 12 games, two points behind leaders Arsenal.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Liverpool

Guardiola said about Liverpool: “Yes, because they have same manager and squad who were able make 17 victories in a row, 18 victories in a row in the past why are they not able to do it again.

“Nobody knows what is going to happen after the World Cup, there’s the transfer window, players coming back. This is my feeling.”

Title challenge from the Reds?

In our view, Liverpool are not going to be able to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Yes, as Guardiola notes, the Reds do still have a very good squad, but the Merseyside club are simply too far behind the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City.

For Liverpool to win the title this season, they will need Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all to collapse.

That ain’t happening.
